She’s somewhat of an inspirational sensation, changing the world with her mini-mogul empire of film, media and a nonprofit that’s rocking the nation. Meet Ms. Lisa Nicole Bell. Lisa and I had the pleasure of connecting last year when I appeared on her radio show, Life Inspired Radio, to speak about organic and natural beauty. Since that connection, Lisa has been a major influence in helping me build OBV and introducing me to many facets of using my career to inspire change. She’s not only my mentor, but my sister who continues to push me to think bigger and better.
I’m not exactly sure when Lisa has time to sleep, but I could only guess that between running her nonprofit, Inspired Girls International,... Vixen of the Week: Lisa Nicole Bell

Making a change to nontoxic and safe products is no easy feat. But it can be a little more bearable when you have the help of a celebrity makeup artist that will hold your hand throughout the process. I had the pleasure of being introduced to Todra Payne, creator of the Healthy Beauty Project, who is behind the movement of something great leading more women to tag along the safe cosmetics ride in a fun, informative and high tech way.
The Healthy Beauty Project is an educational space where you can learn the latest trends and breaking news surrounding the flourishing natural and organic cosmetics industry.
As she builds her empire, Payne recalls being behind the scenes at Fashion Week and working on the faces of Mariah Carey, Kimora... Vixens of the Week: Nikki Phillip, Ty Smith and Sonya Miller
When you are on your mission to get in shape and turn flab into fab where do you typically head? To a gym, yoga studio or maybe even the park to run. What if you could go to a place where your gym gear is a pair of stilettos, some short shorts and a pole?
Inspiration manifested when three friends decided to bring back women’s sexy bodies not by getting them to spend hours in over-crowded gyms with boring workouts, but by helping them to discover their sensuality and feel sexy at the same time! In 2010, Nikki Phillip and her business partners Ty Smith, and Sonya Miller, founded GoDiva Studio in New Jersey which strives to assist women in discovering their sensuality while simultaneously confronting the negative stereotypes... Vixen of the Week: Nikki Walton of CurlyNikki
Where do curly-kinky girls around the world go to for advice on taming their gorgeous manes? CurlyNikki of course! One of the leading natural hair bloggers on the internet, also adored by Tyra Banks, Nikki Walton started a movement of sisterhood without even trying.
A few weeks ago while I was in Miami working and enjoying the beach, I had the honor of speaking with Mrs. Walton about how she got started, what inspires her and why we as women have to embrace the beauty of our hair.
A trained psycho-therapist, Walton works with women whose hair is directly related to their self-esteem, self-respect and self-confidence. Something she had to struggle with in accepting her natural hair and not relying on a flat-iron to make her feel good... Vixen of the Week – Lovette “Luvvie” Ajayi
Without this design diva, Organic Beauty Vixen wouldn’t be the grand and greatly designed blog that it is today. Lovette “Luvvie” Ajayi is a jill of all trades, designing popular blogs like OBV, AfroBella and In Her Shoes, working as a consultant to help companies better brand and market themselves, in addition to being a social justice activist. There is nothing this Vixen can’t do.
After getting laid off from her job as a marketing coordinator and social media trainer for a nonprofit organization over a year ago, Luvvie was just going to look for another regular nine to five. But then figured she could what she was doing at the nonprofit for individuals, especially bloggers, and thus her entrepreneurial... Vixen of the Week: Stacy Malkan – Win Her Book!
Before Stacy Malkan led the charge on challenging the cosmetics industry to take toxins out of our personal care products, she recalls the days of her childhood buying Seventeen Magazine, idolizing the photographed beauties and finding ways to be a more beautiful version of herself. After all, what woman doesn’t want to look like a model out of a magazine?
But if she knew then what she knew now about the numerous toxins she was exposing herself to working to be “beautiful” she may have thought twice about where she was spending her money and what she was putting on her body.
Malkan is the cofounder of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a division of the Environmental Working Group. She got her start working for environmental health... Vixen of the Week: Patrice Yursik aka Afrobella
If you know anything about the natural hair community you know about Afrobella. I started following the cute and sassy lifestyle and beauty blog about a year ago and was so excited when a twitter exchange scored me an interview with the creator herself… Patrice Yursik.
The proud Trinidadian native who resides in windy city Chicago has given brown girls everywhere what they want – content that caters to them. When there was no voice for natural-hair girls or plus sized diva’s, Patrice lent hers. Its hard to imagine that she went from once feeling creatively choked at her prior job in newspapers unable to express herself and now she gets flown across the country to write about her ideas and feelings, interview celebrities... Vixen of the Week: Rebecca Casciano
She’s swiftly painted the faces of celebrities like Angela Simmons and Les Nubians and has worked on videos like Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady”. With an impressive resume and long list of clientele, Rebecca Casciano is my most cherished green makeup artist that does more than just give people a good look. She changes their lives with a new approach on beauty.
Years ago, Casciano battled with cystic acne and was tired of covering it up. She got to the root of her skin disorder by taking a holistic approach to her skin and listening to some of her vegan friends about eating healthy. She changed her diet and began changing her life.
In addition to being a celebrity makeup artist, Casciano is a certified wellness consultant at Cornerstone...
