Don’t you envy new born babies’ skin? It’s clear, soft and flawlessly perfect. Oh, to be a child again, I’d give anything to have that skin again. Although your little bundle of joy is soft, cute and cuddly, it’s still vital that you take care of their skin in the super delicate state that it’s in now. Remember to always ditch the toxic products currently on the market now in favor of natural and organic ones that won’t end up in your baby’s blood stream later on.
Here are a few baby beauty tips to help you manage a natural beauty routine that comforts your little one’s skin:
Bathtime – Steer clear of suds and detergents that can strip baby’s skin of natural oils. Use sulfate-free and synthetic-free fragranced solutions like Belli’s Calm Me Hair and Body Wash. I gave some of these to my cousin at her baby shower last week and she loved the products. I hid the Johnson and Johnson’s (seriously).
Hair – Your baby’s scalp is a sensitive area right now. Be gentle and keep their hair and scalp moisturized with natural oils like olive, coconut, almond and jojoba oil you can get at a health food store or your local Farmer’s Market.
Body - Your baby’s skin needs moisture immediately after bath-time to prevent itchiness and potential infections. Right after bathing, and before all of the water has been dried off their skin, lather them up with a fragrance-free moisturizer like Nature Babycare’s Eco Oil made without perfumes, dyes or parabens.
Protection – Sun protection is vital to blocking harmful rays from the sun for you and your baby. Stick to a non-toxic, physical sunscreen made without oxybenzone, a known carcinogen. Check out California Baby’s Natural Bug Blend SPF 30 made without PABA and a great solution for keeping baby both protected and hydrated.
